Cool beans! Or is that peas?
Remember that huge pile of wood that I stacked alongside the fence, that Jim had cut into firewood after we cleared for the shop? I was going to move it all, so we could take the fence down in order to finish the driveway, but since we won’t be here enough for the next couple of years to burn it in the shop, the Boy Scouts are taking it! I count them as a very worthy cause all on their own, but to make matters even better, they are distributing the firewood to elderly folks in need. Now that makes me very happy!
Plus, when the chickens go to their new home the first week of December, they will also be coming back and removing our privacy fence, in exchange for the fence itself. How’s that for a win win situation?
Yesterday I picked all the purple hull peas that were left, and it took me nearly two hours to shell them all. I believe I’m going to have to invest in a sheller! But boy they were tasty, I sauteed some bacon and onion, added the peas, and simmered them in chicken broth.
Today I’m going to cut out Jim’s bathrobe, and maybe mine as well, as I’d like to sew them all at once. I think I’m going to do monograms on them.
I found a little 9 lb turkey at the store yesterday, and a new stuffing recipe I want to try, made with Italian sausage, apples and walnuts. Yum!

My mouth is watering CJ–I haven’t had fresh purple hull peas in years because I refuse to go home to Arkansas in the summer. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving–for the first time in 15 years I am not cooking for 10+ people, we are going to the home of friends.
LOL summers in AR are not my cup of tea either! Enjoy your Thanksgiving, how nice not to have to cook!
Now you are working smart. How nice the wood is going to help someone else. I always wish I had your energy. Happy Thanksgiving. Geri
