Have you Tinkled today?

Torn between two lovers…

October21

Feeling like a fool… Remember that song?  LOL  Bellen woke me up at 3 am this morning needing to go outside, and my mind instantly was off and planning what I needed to do today.  The beautiful Cappuccino Delight Quilt kit came via FedEx yesterday, and I want to whip it out for Jim for Christmas… and my garden is also waiting on my attention.  I love both equally, gardening and sewing, and sometimes I have a hard time deciding which I want to do!

I also need to go out and a get a bale of straw to mulch the garlic after I get it planted, and some layer ration for the chickens, who are now laying… I’ve probably forgotten to mention that haven’t I?  Yep, no more buying eggs at the Tinkle house.  Of course I’m also now considering getting rid of the chickens, because I was most unhappy that I was unable to go with Jim to New Orleans!  It’s been five years now since we’ve had to spend any time apart, and I’m not at all happy about that.  I forgot that with critters, I become house bound… and while I never minded being house bound back on the beautiful farm we had, it’s different here.  This is a just a house.  I’m not surrounded by nature, peace and quiet… nor am I in anyway attached to this place.

I made chocolate chip cookies, just for me yesterday!

CJ’s Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar

Cream together until smooth.  Add

  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla

Mix thoroughly and then add

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups flour

Again mix well, then add

  • 2 cups dark chocolate chips (I like Ghiradelli)
  • 3 handfuls whole pecans (about 2 cups)

Bake in a 350 degree convection oven 12 minutes.

About the quilt vs. the garden . . do you have time to work on the quilt on rainy icky days and work in the garden when the weather’s good? With Jim gone, at least you don’t have to be sneaky while working on the quilt. Good luck with it all.

Cindy, what coffee without heavy duty creamer? LOL That’s the way I learned to drink it in Germany!

Judy, I will get it ALL done with Jim gone, LOL. It’s amazing how productive I am when I work around MY schedule.

So CJ, are chocolate chip cookies the cure for the common cold or just a way to make you think you’re feeling better? Diane in CT (who also has a cold)

Actually I woke up today with no sniffles, my body just flirted with Jim’s cold but kicked it off! Cookies were my reward. LOL Hope you feel better!

No husband around has it’s advantages but not for too long. As for the chickens: fry them, stew them, grill them. Problem gone. No more eggs though.
