Better images of the foot position – follow up

I took a couple of better shots this morning, showing the “off” position of my presser feet. As you can see, the needle position is pretty perfect.
It’s most noticeable with a 0mm presser foot, like the #57 or #8, but it’s off on all of them.
I wish I knew how to make this adjustment myself, I’d do so!
Did anyone see this morning’s “Friday Feature” from the Fat Quarter Shop? I flipped over the Cappuccino Delight quilt kit, and had to order it. Yum!

The Cappuccino Delight quilt looks beautiful!
Sorry to hear about the trouble with your new 830. What a bummer. I don’t know anything about the operation of this model of machine. However when I was at my Bernina Club meeting yesterday, the leader was sewing on an 830. She had to change feet constantly during the demonstration. Each time she changed feet, she had to enter the number of the foot into the machine. Is this something you have to do each time you change feet? In any event, your machine shouldn’t be off that much. I hope you get a quick fix for this problem.
I’m glad I saw this on my google reader first thing today – as I had the same thing happen to me a few months ago on my Bernina.
You need to take it back to the shop that serviced it! My needle placement was exactly right with the hole but with my foot 57 on the needle would come down and hit the presser foot!!! talk about impossible to sew a perfect 1/4″
they said that up in the compartment a bolt was loose and it only cost me $19 plus tax to fix… your shop shouldn’t charge you anything since it was just serviced – I’m guessing that the person just failed to tighten it good before returning it to you.
Good Luck with it! Happy Weekend & Love from Texas! ~bonnie
Man, CJ, so sorry. Has it been this way from the git/go? Or was there a point, after a certain project, that it started acting up? I know you can sew with the machine but it’s got to be frustrating as heck.
Carol, yes and no. The 830 automatically recognizes any of the new “C” (not the ones from the Artista line) or “D” feet. And, the only reason you “tell” the machine what foot you’re using is to prevent it sewing say, down the center with the zipper foot on for example. If the machine knows what foot is on, then it won’t allow you to make a mistake and break a needle.
In the current firmware, this is a big buggy, but it is fixed in the upcoming release that included the new cutter tool.
Bonnie, it’s a 6 hour round trip back to my dealer, but only half that distance to the next closest dealer here in AR, plus it’s all interstate driving here, so I’d rather pay to get it fixed than to make that long trip again.
Cindy, yes it has been off since I bought it, but only slightly. The tech adjusted it at my request, but it looks like he adjusted it the wrong direction, making the problem worse instead of fixing it.
Okay, if you don’t know ask…………so I’m asking.
Are our 830s consdiered “Artistas”? I didn’t think so……..I thought they’re just “an 830.”
No, the new line is the “8 Series”, they are not “Artista’s”. Great question!
I “thought” it was the “8 Series” but hubby says I get in trouble with “thoughts”..lol
Another thought: I wonder if Bernina will add more to the 8 Series since there are only two of them in that series at this point……………
Darned – there I go with “thoughts” again……….LOL
CJ – that Cappucino Bali Pops quilt is gorgeous! I might order it myself, since I love the color combo and batiks in general. Thanks for the link! claudia
Cindy, I would imagine so. My guess is with the current numbers being 820 and 830, they’ve left room for one lower “810″ model, and then of course, later on they can go up the 800 scale.
Claudia, isn’t that fabulous?
I almost ordered the kit, too, because it sounded so yummy.
Also, I know you have the HQ16. Before I moved from New York my favorite quilt shop also carried the HQ16 and the Fusion. I’ve never quilted on a frame and had been looking at both. The Fusion was a little big for me and expensive but I loved some of the new features. Well, I just got a call from the shop saying a new machine was introduced at market. The HQ16 is being phased out and the HQ18 will take it’s place. Not only would it be able to do the twelve inch block on point but it has the stitch regulator feature and you can set the machine to move only when you do or to go slowly. Other neat stuff too. And the price hasn’t increased but will be the same as the HQ16. It will come with the studio frame.
Boy, I wonder what I can sell. This sounds very tempting.
Marsha, I think most HQ owners love their machines. The stitch regulator is simply fantastic, and HQ support is the best! One of the top reasons in my opinion to go with an HQ over the commercial longarms is that when HQ adds new upgrades, you can simply replace the “C” pods on the machine and have the very latest, versus having to buy a whole new machine.
CJ, if Jim needs any help or direction in New Orleans, just give us a shout!

Is that home to you Kim? Jim’s worked down there before, although he would love to know where the best place to buy some fresh fish to haul home would be!
CJ…where do you purchase Isacord thread? I know you mentioned it on one of the groups. I’m in need of a few colors and would like to purchase at the best price. TIA!
CJ – LMAO
I am finally catching up on email and saw the Cappucino delight from Fat Quarter this morning and almost emailed you to tell you to look at it, LOL. I got it too! So many projects, so little time
