Off to the island!

Jim's in the shower now, as soon as he gets out we'll load up the Bromptons and head to the ferry, to spend a few hours out on Algiers Island, one of the places we wanted to visit before leaving New Orleans.

I'm going to take the iPad along since I didn't bring the camera down, but don't know how well that will work out, we'll see.

I got a bit done on my granny squares!

I'm attaching them as I go, because it's such a drag to do them all at once at the end, this is far more enjoyable. I'm thinking this will make a perfect afghan for the future front porch swing on the future house, since this yarn is pretty much impervious to everything!

I like the look of these sunburst granny squares better than the traditional ones, and they're more fun to make. I don't crochet much anymore, and I'd forgotten how simple and relaxing it is compared to knitting, you really don't have to think at all, which is kind of nice if that's what one is in the mood for.

I limited myself to one cup of coffee (because the pure cream I add to mine racks up those calories in a hurry) and an apple for breakfast this morning since I'll like blow it for lunch as we'll be eating out. But I'll have the added benefit of walking and biking for a few hours!

I've missed my Brompton, I can't wait to ride it again!

Sounds like y’all will have a wonderful day! Makes up for being apart during Thanksgiving and Christmas, I hope.

  3. You are speed woman!! I’d still be dithering over what colors to put in my first one. And by attaching as you go, you’re saving yourself the frustration of deciding what order to put them in if you’d waited and done them all at once. I keep telling you, you’re brilliant!!

Where could I find that pattern? My niece is just starting crochet and might like it. I agree it is prettier than the “standard”.
