VitaMix

A week or so ago I sold the last of my CircleLord Ka Ching boards and decided to use that money to purchase a long wished for VitaMix.  As part of my newly changed diet, I’d like to start adding some green smoothies to my daily diet.  Hopefully it will arrive soon!  I’ve considered buying one several times in the past, but the size of the beast kept putting me off.  The newer 750 model is short and squat, and will fit under the upper kitchen cabinets.Vitamix Pro 750I have a KitchenAid blender which does an okay job, but it’s such a pain to clean and the motor gets pretty toasty if I try to blend without a lot of water added, which I don’t like.  I may also start juicing again, but fortunately I already own a wonderful Champion Juicer, which was the very first high-end kitchen gadget I ever purchased!  It took me a long time to save up for it, as I bought it when I was in my twenties and the boys were little.  I was a vegetarian back then and it got a ton of use.  I still use it every year when I process food from our garden… definitely a worthwhile investment.

Since blackberries grow so well for us here, I’ll definitely be using a lot of those, and I think the VitaMix will pulverize the seeds, the KitchenAid does not, and I hate those seeds!

I had a smoothie this morning, made with 2 cups of spinach, 1 carrot, 1 stalk of celery, 1 cup blueberries and 1 cup strawberries, plus 3/4 cup of water.  I really like the celery in it!

We have one too. It gets a workout around here. My hubby throws everything in it except the kitchen sink I think. I like the fruit smoothies, nice and sweet ;-) You are lucky to have goodies already frozen and ready to go.

Yes, I have tons of fruit from our orchard in the freezer. I need more veggies though! I tend to can those. I’m hoping Jim and I wil be around this year as we’d really like to start planting up on the land. Of course, it needs to rain for a change!

  5. I’ve been making smoothies w/my Vitamix for 20 or so yrs. through the years I have bought the dry container and other items. Last yr I bought the squatty container so I could stop lugging it in and out. Now it sits out all the time. I use it a lot. I don’t buy blackberries anymore as I still have pulverized residue all in my teeth. I use blueberries instead. When the season is in, I buy all I can and vacuum seal them. They last all year. You will love your new blender. I bought mine at the state fair in the late 80′s and it still acts like a new blender. The price has stayed the same. I pd $500 way back then, but it has been money well spent.

That’s good to hear Hilary, I am hoping mine lasts as long as my Champion Juicer has. I’m fortunate not to have to buy much fruit period as it grows well for us. I prefer blueberries as well and we generally pick enough to last all year, but the blackberries, good grief I have to give those away we get so much!

  6. You are good! Somehow the thought of drinking a veggie smoothie make me want to gag. (Sorry.) Guess I’m destined to be the woman with chubby cheeks that go to my knees…

LOL it actually tastes fine Chris, or I wouldn’t drink it. Spinach is pretty mild in flavor and the fruit sweetens it nicely, although I need less fruit and more veggies!

You are going to Love it! It definitely looks nice on a counter. You should research the Forks over Knives phenomenon. Weight melts off, and no hot flashes.

  9. I have also had my VitaMix for at least 20 years. Works fabulous. You are going to love it.
